Canada Post Awards Transcontinental Multi -Year Contract To Publish Smartmoves™ Magazine

Montreal, September 17, 2008 – Transcontinental Inc. is pleased to announce that Transcontinental Custom Communications has been awarded a multi-year contract by Canada Post to publish smartmoves™ – The Guide for your new home, its existing magazine for Canadian moving households. Transcontinental Custom Communications will be handling all of the creative design, editorial content, printing, distribution, and fulfillment of smartmoves magazine.

Canada Post’s Change of Address service is the basis for the smartmoves program and the smartmoves magazine. The smartmoves program is a highly targeted and cost effective advertising program offering organizations innovative ways to stay connected with Canadian moving households. The magazine offers insightful information and practical guidance to help make settling into a new home more enjoyable.

The 52-page, digest-sized magazine is published three times per year and mailed weekly with an annual distribution of approximately 1.1 million copies. Businesses have the opportunity to reach moving households with national and regional outserts, polybagged in every edition. In compliance with Canada Post’s mandate to find eco-friendly options, Transcontinental Custom Communications is printing future editions of the magazine on 100% recycled paper.

“As a complement to the Change of Address service, smartmoves magazine is a great value to Canadians who’ve just moved,” said Tim Skelly, Director of Product Management, Canada Post. “We’re looking forward to Transcontinental Custom Communications providing us with best-in-class branded content for the magazine as well as the expertise to help us further develop our integrated marketing strategies.” A complete redesign of the smartmoves magazine is scheduled to be released for the Winter 2009 edition.

“Transcontinental is very proud to be working with Canada Post to take this successful program to the next level,” said Stéphane Gagné, Vice President, Business Development of Transcontinental Media and Director of Transcontinental Custom Communications. “Our expertise in custom publishing and our ability to provide an integrated media solution unlock the full potential of this exciting program, delivering the best product to our client.”
