President and Chief Executive Officer, Transcontinental Inc.
François Olivier became President and Chief Executive Officer of TC Transcontinental in 2008. After joining the Printing sector of TC Transcontinental in 1993, he rose through the ranks, going from General Manager of one to several printing facilities, then becoming Senior Vice-President of the Newspaper Group. He later took on the role of President of the Information Products Printing sector, and became Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation in 2007.
Since becoming President of the Corporation, François Olivier has shown determination in directing the activities of TC Transcontinental Printing towards key growth areas and disposing of non-strategic activities representing $400 million in revenue. He has invested $800 million to provide the sector with a state-of-the-art printing platform, then consolidated the Canadian market with strategic acquisitions such as Quad/Graphics Canada. The Media sector has also seen significant changes under his leadership. He has led the transition to digital, consolidated the weekly newspaper market with the acquisition of Sun Media weeklies in Quebec and divested consumer magazines. In an industry that is constantly evolving, François Olivier is now guiding the Corporation towards the development of a third sector, flexible packaging, leveraging the manufacturing expertise within TC Transcontinental.
Prior to joining TC Transcontinental, François Olivier worked as General Manager of Canada Packers. He has a B.Sc. from McGill University and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School. He also sits on the Board of Directors of CAE, The Conference Board of Canada, the Flexible Packaging Association and the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation, in addition to actively supporting Portage, a non-profit organization. In 2014, he successfully completed a cross-country skiing expedition to the magnetic North Pole with humanitarian organization True Patriot Love.
