Alex Hayden was appointed Senior Vice President, R&D, Innovation, Sustainability and ESG in July 2023. In this role, he leads the company’s research and development activities across North America, Latin America, and within the Advanced Coatings team. Moreover, he is responsible for innovation and the sustainability strategy, in addition to the environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda throughout the organization.

A global leader with over 25 years of experience driving growth through innovation and new product commercialization, Alex Hayden joined TC Transcontinental Packaging in April 2019. Throughout his career, he has established and led multiple high-performance teams in developing and implementing innovation strategies, while instilling best-practice innovation processes. During his tenure at TC Transcontinental, he has established a world-class innovation team responsible for developing sustainable, market-leading products. Under his leadership, the company also founded the ASTRA Center in 2022, which includes state-of-the-art pilot and laboratory facilities as well as plastic packaging recycling and composting research labs. Until his recent appointment, Mr. Hayden held the position of Senior Vice President, R&D, Sustainability, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Excellence at TC Transcontinental Packaging, where he was also responsible for building and implementing teams focused on sales and operations planning as well as manufacturing efficiencies.

Alex Hayden previously held the position of Vice President of R&D and Product Commercialization at Amcor Flexibles Americas, based in Chicago. From 2012 to 2016, he was based in Zurich, Switzerland where he was Director, Research and Development, at Amcor Flexibles Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to this role, he also worked in technology and product development at Amcor Flexibles' Healthcare division in Madison, Wisconsin. Mr. Hayden holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
