Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) journey began with the adoption of our first environmental policy in 1993. Over the years, our commitment to pursuing our business activities in a responsible manner has led to numerous achievements. Most notably, we have adopted several internal policies and established three-year CSR plans in connection with our business strategy. We are proud of the strides we have made and we intend to further our progress.
At TC Transcontinental, CSR is framed within a well-defined governance structure. Our Steering Committee, comprised of members representing our different lines of business, defines CSR priorities and objectives, and measures our results. Plans and reports are approved by the company’s Executive Management Committee. Finally, the Board of Directors’ Corporate Governance Committee oversees CSR as per its mandate to supervise three-year plans. This structure ensures that risks stemming from social responsibility issues are considered at every step of the decision-making process and that we continue to grow in a responsible manner throughout our transformation.
As stakeholder contribution is integral to our approach and to our continuity, we regularly seek input from our employees, shareholders and investors, customers, suppliers as well as from the communities in which we operate. We have taken their comments into account in developing our three-year 2016-2018 CSR plan entitled Driving Sustainable Results. This plan presents 14 objectives on which we want to progress in the short term, with respect to four key axes. We are committed to publishing annual progress reports to disclose our data and outline our progression relative to established performance indicators.
