Katya Laviolette holds the position of Chief Human Resources Officer of TC Transcontinental. Her mandate is to lead the Corporation’s human capital activities as well as its corporate culture initiatives. She also plays a key role in the management committee of the Packaging division, the Corporation’s growth vector which is being developed, namely, through a North American acquisition strategy.

In 2011, after holding the position of Vice President, Human Resources in the Media Sector from 2003 to 2007, Katya Laviolette returned to TC Transcontinental, assuming the leadership of its human resources function. Her extensive experience has served the Corporation well, allowing her to effectively support the transformation of TC Transcontinental and enabling the company to attain short, medium and long-term objectives. Among her achievements, we note the revision of the Corporation’s values and core competencies, and the redesign of the executive compensation and benefits programs. She also developed and implemented the Talent Acquisition Center, oversaw the new employer branding, implemented the Leadership Journey, a comprehensive company-wide leadership development program, and worked on the deployment of a gender diversity strategy at TC Transcontinental.

Prior to joining TC Transcontinental’s executive management committee, Katya Laviolette served as Vice-President, People and Culture with CBC/Radio-Canada. She also made her mark in human resources management and executive positions at Rio Tinto, Bombardier Aerospace, CN, and Pratt & Whitney Canada. In addition to a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, Ms. Laviolette earned a Master of Industrial Relations from Queen’s University in Ontario. Over the course of her career, she has been recognized with a number of awards, including the E.S. Sunley Scholarship in Industrial Relations, the Queen's Graduate Fellowship and the Cameron-Wood Prize in Industrial Relations. She is a member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (Order of Certified Human Resources Professionals) as well as a certified coach with Integral Coaching Canada. In 2017, Ms. Laviolette was appointed as a Board Member, and President of the Human Resources and Governance Committee of Gecko Alliance. She is also actively involved in her community, serving on the Board of Pour 3 Points, running the Leaders campaign for Centraide of Greater Montreal for TC Transcontinental as well as participating in the mentorship program for women leaders through the Women in Governance organization.
